1. Y: The Last Man- I read the first book in this series and immediately fell in love with it. It’s written by Brian K. Vaughan who has also written and produced several episodes of Lost. I have Vol. 2 and 4, but am still missing 3. I don’t want to read Vol. 2 because i know i’ll get frustrated/anxious if i finish it and still don’t have the next one.
.Blankets by Craig Thompson- My dear friend Stephen suggested this one to me but i still haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. At almost 600 pages, it’s a little daunting, but i’m told it’s a quick and easy read. I read his travel comic about the book tour he did in Europe (Carnet de Voyage) in support of Blankets. I probably should have read them in reverse order. Oh well.
.Maus by Art Spiegelman- A classic graphic novel that many people have told me i need to read. Someday i’ll get around to it.
.Shortcomings- I absolutely loved Adrian Tomine’s graphic novel Summer Blonde and find myself checking the latest issues of The New Yorker to see if he drew the cover that week. I got Shortcomings this past christmas, and Eva has already read it. I just have to dig it out of one of the boxes of books that we don’t have shelf space for yet.
.Sandman- I’ve had 2 signifigant others (one of them being Eva) that have loved this classic Neil Gaiman series. I tried to read it once but it just didn’t grab me. I need to just sit down someday and force myself to read the first couple books so i can definitely say if i like it or not.
